McKinsey report buried until after election

By Ian Quinn

NHS London has admitted that a controversial report by American-consultancy firm, McKinsey, which was used as the basis for its polysystems proposals and a huge shift in workload to GPs, will be kept under wraps until after the General Election.

It follows calls from GP leaders and Liberal Democrat health spokesman Norman Lamb for the Government to publish the report, which has resulted in radical cost-cutting measures including slashing GP consultations by a third, cutting the number of people going to A&E departments by 60% and shifting millions of patients into polysystems.

NHS London chief executive, Ruth Carnall, told MPs in a latter dated March 9 that the report would be ‘published shortly' .

But a spokeperson for the SHA told Pulse: ‘The report will not be published before the election because of the rules on Purdah.'
