The Scottish GPC has re-elected Dr Andrew Buist as its deputy chair.
Dr Buist, a GP from Blairgowrie, Perthshire, has led on rural issues for the BMA and also represented GPs in discussions on out-of-hours care standards and the work of NHS24.
He will join the Scottish GPC's newly elected chair Dr Alan McDevitt in representing Scotland's GPs in negotiations with the Scottish Government, and at a UK level with the Department of Health.
He said: ‘I'm delighted to have been re-elected to the position of deputy chairman of the Scottish GP Committee and I look forward to working with Alan in what will be a challenging time for Scottish general practice.
‘I will continue to ensure that doctors, particularly those working in rural communities in Scotland, have a voice.'
Dr Colette Maule, a GP in Lanarkshire, has been elected as the Scottish GPC's third negotiator, and will be primarily involved in discussions with the Scottish Government.
