Video: Health minister’s GP surgery visit to discuss commissioning plans

By Laura Passi

Watch Lord Frederick Howe's visit to a GP surgery in Grantham, Lincolnshire, in the first of a series of ministerial visits aimed at gauging the reaction of staff to the changes set out in the Government's white paper.

Lord Howe visited the St Peter's Hill surgery because it is a model of how he would like to see primary care services working across the country.

Dr Ben Milton, a GP at the practice, was enthusiastic about what the white paper can offer GPs - but warns that more detail is needed to ensure the profession understands 'both the carrot and the sticks that are going to be put in place here'.

The video - produced by the Department of Health - also features John Parks, chief executive of NHS Northamptonshire, and Dr Martin McShane, Director of Strategic Planning at NHS Lincolnshire.
