GPs win employment tribunal fight

By Lilian Anekwe

A group of GPs in greater Manchester have won the right to take NHS Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale to an employment tribunal over accusations of racial and age discrimination.

The six GPs also allege they have been victimised by the trust which unfairly allocated resources away from their practices.

Dr Tim Anglin, a GP in Rochdale said: 'This resource deprivation has potentially affected tens of thousands of their patients, many of whom are from an ethnic background, by reducing their prescribing budgets and reducing their allocations for improving their premises.'

A spokesperson for the trust said: 'We are co-operating with legal proceedings relating to this case and will support a fair and transparent hearing.'
