A GP surgery has been vandalised twice in one week, with bricks thrown at ‘such force’ that they ‘shattered’ multiple windows.
Haven Health GP practice in Felixstowe, Suffolk, told patients last week that its windows were smashed on both Sunday night and again on Tuesday night.
Suffolk Police told Pulse that a ‘piece of concrete’ was used to smash the front door of the practice building on Tuesday night, but that no arrests have yet been made.
The provider that runs Haven Health, Suffolk Primary Care, said ‘no one was hurt’ but the cleaners who discovered the damage found it ‘extremely distressing’.
In a post on Facebook last week, Haven Health apologised to patients for its ‘less friendly looking entrance’ after the vandalism attacks.
The surgery said: ‘Sadly on Sunday night and again on Tuesday night we have had our windows smashed.
‘Our cleaners were in the building on Tuesday and understandably traumatised.
‘Any information please contact the police on 101. They are aware. Please bear with us whilst we fix it.’
The police said that after ‘unknown offender/s’ smashed the front door of the practice building on 13 May, both the ‘front door and an interior door were damaged’.
Their statement continued: ‘During work to board up the door, stones were thrown towards the building and those carrying out the work. This took place at around 1.05am on 14 May.
‘There have been no arrests and enquiries are ongoing. Anyone with any information is asked to contact Suffolk Police quoting crime reference: 37/25822/25.’
A spokesperson for Suffolk Primary Care said it is ‘very worrying’ for both patients and staff to see vandalism at the GP surgery.
They said: ‘We are incredibly disappointed that vandals chose to target Haven Health so mindlessly twice in the space of a week.
‘One of the bricks was thrown at the building with such force that it shattered both our external and internal doors, spraying shards of glass across our entrance and waiting room.
‘Thankfully, no one was hurt but our cleaners discovered the damage and found it extremely distressing.’
There was a similar incident last month at a GP practice in Oxfordshire, where a man was arrested following reports of a smashed window.
Pulse revealed in February that police were investigating a ‘hate crime’ at a GP practice which was vandalised with Islamophobic graffiti.
