1 – Dr Chaand Nagpaul

Dr Chaand Nagpaul joined the GPC's negotiating team in 2007 and is seen as one of the profession's rising stars.

He mixes a considered approach with a strong principled stand against the Government's ideological pursuit of the private sector.

He has a busy year ahead on the negotiating team, given his responsibility for out-of-hours, commissioning and IT, all political hot potatoes in an election year.

What he says

‘I'm delighted if I command the confidence of GPs to be influential in the future. We need to be driven by professionalism, values and principles, and to be able to argue with coherence and robustness. We also need to remember that the public and patients are our greatest allies.'
