12 – Dr John Fry

A pioneer of general practice research, Dr John Fry will be remembered for gathering meticulous data on every patient he saw during his rich career.

He created what is considered to be one of the first patient databases, and used it to conduct practice-based research in areas such as childhood illnesses and heart disease.

He was a leading reformer of general practice, and spoke up consistently and strongly for better educational standards.
