19 – Dr Andrew Dearden

The former chair of GPC Wales has been a key player in medical politics for some years, but it is perhaps in his role as the BMA's pensions kingpin that his influence has been most keenly felt.

He was instrumental in fighting GPs' corner after former health secretary Patricia Hewitt tried to cap their pensions.
