41 – Dr Simon Poole

Dr Simon Poole is a GP in Cambridge and an up-and-coming member of the GPC's commissioning and service development subcommittee.

He counts himself as an enthusiast for GP commissioning, but not necessarily for how it is being implemented – he is not keen on incentives to reduce referrals.

Dr Poole has also written a series of articles for Pulse, including a guide to the seven pillars of GP commissioning which lays out the essential skills for successful GP commissioning.

This article appeared as part of Pulse's list of the top 50 most influential GPs of 2011. The full list can be found here.
