Pulse's star columnist, regular blogger and professional cynic, Dr Copperfield is the only fictional doctor to make our Top 50 GPs list. He has had an eventful year at his practice in Essex, with his ‘campaign against campaigns' and getting hot under the collar over NICE's recommendations for diabetes screening.
When the BMA called its first industrial action in a generation over pensions, Dr Copperfield urged his colleagues to the barricades – and then after the big day, memorably declared that ‘when push came to shove, we crumbled like the meringues served up for dessert at a posh kitchen supper'.
A published author and regular contributor to national newspapers, he made our list of top medical blogs – which were described by one of our panel members as ‘so true to life I feel like I could have written them'.
