Dr Dean Marshall, GPC negotiator and a GP in Midlothian, was praised by our judges for driving the BMA’s ‘Your GP Cares’ campaign, which calls for increased and sustained investment in the profession.
Patients need to be informed what is going on in general practice, he has said.
He has been, our panel says, ‘a vocal strong leader in managing resistance from non-GPs about the value of a specific GP campaign’ and changing opinions in other branches of medicine about why the campaign was needed.
Dr Marshall has also had his work cut out leading the GPC negotiations with the CQC over revalidation and tackling areas viewed as inappropriate for inclusion.
