Dr Caroline Chill: ‘I’d like to see how the budgets add up’

It looks like Labour plans to continue its current policy of target-driven care and would give patients the ‘right' to see their GP out of hours.

It admits budget cuts are needed but insists they can be made by efficiency savings.

The Conservatives say they would continue to fund the NHS in line with inflation but as health inflation is higher, that would actually mean funding cuts.

Lib Dems propose to scrap targets and deliver care on the basis of needs not means – but I'm unsure what this means in terms of policy!

I'd like to see how the budgets add up and learn how national policy will translate into patient services.
