NASGP

The National Association of Sessional GPs (formerly the National Association of Non-Principals) is a voluntary non-profit organisation representing locums, freelance GPs and salaried GPs. It was formed in 1997 by a group of mostly sessional GPs. The body provides an independent lobbying and information service. Its aim is to “unite all general practitioners through an agenda of quality and equality” and there are currently 1,200 members. The NASGP provides support and representation both locally and nationally. They have lobbied to improve the status and representation of Sessional GPs through many initiatives such as their national conference, code of good practice and regular newsletters.
