A not-for-profit membership organization launched in May 1998, free from government or political affiliation. Its aim is to champion, support and represent ""NHS primary care and all those working in it as a movement committed to a fair and progressive NHS that is free from the traditional tribalism of single interest groups". NHS Alliance claims to be the only organization that "brings together PCTs with practices, clinicians with managers and board members - and NHS Primary Care with its patients". It plays a major part in supporting and developing PCTs and similar primary care organisations and in providing opportunities for them to network and exchange best practice.
