Nothing good will come from patient groups

The only time I've ever worked in a practice with a patient participation group we called the sessions ‘greetin' meetin's'

News: Patients given power to veto practice changes under new DES

The only people who ever turned up were those who had something to complain about, and no-one ever had anything positive to contribute – they'd complain without any suggestion as to how to improve matters. Since then, I've resisted all suggestions that I have a group in my practice and this is one DES I'll be giving a miss.

What patients want is a 24-hour service, seven days a week, without any idea of what this would involve or cost. They want instant access to specialist services just down the road and Jeremy Kyle on TV in the waiting room. God forbid!
