Primary Care Trust Medical Services is the route under which PCTs are able to provide services themselves by directly employing staff. The PCT may wish to employ full time staff to provide a full range of services, or employ staff on a sessional or part time basis. When providing services directly, through PCTMS, the PCT must comply with certain directions. The PCT must comply with its standing orders and instructions, and will want to take into consideration its general duties of care.
