Learning objectives

This module will give a GP focused update on identifying and managing patients who self-harm:

  • Understanding why patients self-harm
  • Using the Manchester Self-Harm Rule to identify high-risk patients
  • Suicide risk in patients who have self-harmed
  • Psychological therapies for patients who self-harm
  • Prescribing antidepressants and antipsychotics for patients who self-harm
  • Using psychosocial interventions in primary care
