Any GP struggling with IT glitches might be cheered by this story of a pilot scheme to install computers in 50 GP practices for the first time.
A company called Scicon had been paid £500,000 to do the job, but was complaining that a joint BMA-RCGP IT group was throwing a spanner in the works - because they couldn't decide whether they wanted the pilot to go ahead.
As the computers did little more than hold a register of patients, you can see why GPs had doubts. In a world now dominated by US giants, the naivety of the Government insisting on using British technology has a certain charm.
