Pulse will be hosting a roundtable today with GP leaders to discuss the burning issues facing the profession, as part of the next phase of its Stop Practice Closures campaign.
Chaired by Pulse editor Nigel Praities, the roundtable will be attended by the head of primary care commissioning at NHS England Dr David Geddes, GPC chair Dr Chaand Nagpaul, and NHS England adviser Professor Clare Gerada.
Leader of East London’s ‘Save Our Surgeries’ campaign Dr Naomi Beer will also attending, as well as NHS Clinical Commissioners’ co-chair Dr Amanda Doyle.
Attendees will discuss why so many practices are struggling, what are the factors behind the large number of practices facing possible closure and what can be done to fix the chronic underfunding and rock-bottom morale of general practice.
It follows a Pulse investigation that found more than 100 practices have contacted LMC leaders about potentially closing, with the RCGP has said that they have identified 500 practices at risk.
You can follow what is said at the roundtable live on the Pulse website from 2pm. Please suggest any questions you want to put to the attendees in the comments section below.
