Warning over ‘exodus’ of health workers, acute departments at ‘breaking point’, and can marriage cure cancer?

To the Guardian first, which carries the Royal College of Nursing's news that NHS pay cuts on staff will see health professionals leaving in protest and the quality of care coming under threat as a result.

The RCN is busy today, with its Welsh branch also being quoted by the BBC as it issued a warning that acute hospital emergency departments in Wales were seeing unprecedented demand and feared a "breaking point" this winter.

Elsewhere, the Express reports that elderly hospital patients are suffering from undiagnosed dementia because doctors are not trained to recognise the condition, according to the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh (RCPE)

And finally, the Independent goes all Daily Mail on us, reporting that researchers have discovered a new miracle cure for cancer... marriage. A study of 168 patients with advanced lung cancer who were treated with chemotherapy and radiation over a decade from 2000 to 2010 found a third of those who were married were still alive after three years compared with 10 per cent of those who were single. The research was presented at the 2012 Symposium on Thoracic Oncology in Chicago yesterday.
