GP appointed director at NHS Confederation

The organisation that represents NHS commissioners and trusts across the UK has appointed GP Dr Johnny Marshall as its new head of policy.

Dr Marshall will lead on all areas of the the NHS Confederation’s policy work. Part of his role will involve improving the NHS Confederation’s partnership working across health and social care.

Dr Marshall has been a GP in Buckinghamshire since 1992 and was chair of the National Association of Primary Care (NAPC) from 2008-2011. He helped the NAPC and the NHS Alliance to establish NHS Clinical Commissioners, a national membership organisation for CCGs. He is currently an associate director at the NHS Confederation.

Dr Marshall said: ‘I hope to bring my clinical and commissioning experience to help support our members gain a clear understanding of the implications of new and existing health policy for their patients, staff and organisations.’
