Alexion UK took to the streets of London and asked 17 people what they knew about rare diseases. Watch the short vox pop to see what they said—and why increased awareness and research matter.
Working at Alexion, we regularly hear from people living with rare diseases about the challenges they face – from long diagnostic journeys to limited treatment options and feelings of isolation or stigma. To understand public awareness, we spoke with 17 people on a rainy day in London and asked what they knew about rare diseases. Many were surprised by the statistics: how many people in the UK are affected, how long it can take to receive a diagnosis, and how few treatments are available. The most common response when asked what more should be done was clear: more research. As an organisation, Alexion is committed to accelerating research, shortening time to diagnosis, and supporting timely access to new treatments. Share this video to help raise awareness and advocate for earlier diagnosis and better access to care for the rare disease community.
