32 – Dr Colin Hunter

Dr Colin Hunter is the man who presides over the clinical domains of the QOF.

As chair of the independent NICE-led QOF advisory committee, he gives the thumbs up or down on which potential new QOF indicators are recommended to the GPC and NHS Employers for negotiations.

He has made it clear the committee have not been blind to the clamour among ministers for more outcome measures to be included in the QOF. With a huge tranche of piloted indicators to be reviewed and assessed in June, the GP from Aberdeen and honorary treasurer of the RCGP may be forced to bow to the growing pressure and introduce some controversial outcome indicators - sure to gain a reaction from GPs.
