NEW ENTRY
Dr Penny Newman was described as an ‘amazing GP' by our panel, in particular for her Realising Potential report that has inspired a new NHS leadership programme for female doctors and that aims to increase the number of women at ‘board level or equivalent' by 10% by 2017.
She is a GP in Ipswich, a consultant in public health and a member of the NHS Midlands and East commissioning development team, and she has written passionately about the involvement of sessional GPs in commissioning.
One of our panel said: ‘Her work in promoting sessional GPs, particularly women – for instance in two articles for Pulse – has gained her recognition nationally.'
