The editor of the BJGP, Professor Roger Jones has a powerful influence over what primary care research gets published and put in front of GPs.
Professor Jones has seen the BJGP become the second most-cited primary care journal in the world under his editorship. He is emeritus professor of general practice at King’s College London.
Professor Jones says this year he is going to be looking hard at what the BJGP might look like in the future. He says: ‘I hope that we will soon have a clearer idea about the right balance between on-line and paper publication and between the publication of original research, serving the academic community, and a more clinically-focused output, directed at the majority of the College membership.’
