New modules on ADHD, influenza, diabetes and prescribing in depression

Four new clinical CPD modules are now available on Pulse Learning. Our latest case-based learning module Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder uses four typical general practice presentations to update you on the latest guidelines, research and therapeutic options in ADHD.

This week sees the first in a series of video modules based on the recent Pulse Event Mental Health Forum. In Pragmatic antidepressant prescribing, consultant psychiatrist Dr David Christmas provides an update on optimising doses, relapse prevention and strategies for non-responding patients – including optimisation, switching, combining and augmentation of drug therapies.

Both these modules are available exclusively to Premium members of Pulse Learning. But two new modules are available free to any GP registered with the site until the 18th October.

Virologist Professor John Oxford has written responses to GP Dr Julian Spinks’ Key questions in influenza –including details on the new nasal flu vaccine, which patients should be given antivirals and when to consider advising that children with flu should be excluded from school or nursery.

And Challenges in diabetes is a comprehensive 1.5 CPD hour module covering key challenges in diabetes faced in primary care, including how to distinguish between type 1 and type 2 diabetes, how to choose the right second- and third-line treatment for your patients and how gestational diabetes should be followed up postnatally.
