It has been such a whirlwind three years, and I am so sad that it’s over. I’ve been overwhelmed by the support I’ve received from everyone.
The college’s campaign for more funding and resources in general practice has really taken off and we have also seen the launch of major reports, such as the commission on generalism.
Over the past three years, the college has taken major steps to ensure that we are more inclusive, and our trainees and newly qualified First5 GPs are now integral to our decision-making.
The college’s bid for extnded and enhanced GP training has also made huge leaps.
The opportunity to be chair has been the biggest honour I could ever imagine.
I hope I got it right and represented GPs well most of the time, and I can only apologise for the times when I got it wrong.
I would do it all again in a heartbeat.
From Professor Clare Gerada, Immediate past Chair RCGP and current NHS Chair of Board for Transforming Primary Care in London.
