The alternative GP promotional campaign

A new national promotional campaign to encourage junior doctors to enter general practice features a GP drinking vodka and crying in a darkened room.

The advert sees the lonely GP sipping neat vodka straight from the bottle. It then cuts to him sobbing uncontrollably whilst uselessly pawing crisps into his half-open mouth.

He then puts a pair of knickers on his head and headbutts the table before slumping to the floor where he can be seen whispering, ‘Is this all there is? Is this really all there is in life?’ to his half-empty bottle of vodka.

The short commercial fades out and ends with the strap line, ‘There’s nothing general about general practice.’

The advert will be run online and on social media channels. It is hoped that it will give the much needed boost to GP training applications.
