GP stories 'of national importance' see Pulse score journalism award 'hat trick'

The Pulse news team won the ‘Best Section Editor/Team’ award at the BSME Talent Awards at a ceremony held in London last night.

This was the third year running Pulse picked up the prestigious award, having scooped the gong in both 2016 and 2017.

This year competition was fierce, with Pulse pulling off the 'hat trick' ahead of six other short-listed entrants, including Sunday Times Travel Magazine, Which?, New Scientist and Harper’s Bazaar.

Explaining their decision, the judges said in their nomination: 'Making headlines smart, the excellent winning team were commended for putting together stories of national importance.'

The award comes as Pulse news stories have been picked up by the national press on over 20 occasions in May alone, highlighting the pressures general practice is under.

Last month, Pulse revealed that 1.3m patients had lost their GP surgery in the past five years amid 450 closures; while the GP crisis saw practices forced to resort to only offering emergency consultations.

Congratulation , girls. This one for you:

''I hope you will continue to challenge ill-founded arguments and muddled thinking and that you will never be afraid to speak the truth to those in power.
"I hope that you will support each other in those difficult moments where you have to deliver messages that are disagreeable to those who need to hear them."
