The chief executive of Circle Healthcare, Ali Parsa, has stepped down from the role, the private provider has announced.
Parsa said he was leaving the role to focus on ‘other projects’. He has been replaced by Circle’s head of mobilisation Steve Melton on an interim basis. Parsa will remain on the board as founder and non-executive director.
Circle is the largest partnership of healthcare professionals in Europe with over 2500 partners, it says, and is co-founded, co-run and co-owned by clinicians. It recently took over the running of Hinchingbrooke Healthcare NHS Trust in Huntingdonshire.
The board is looking to find candidates ‘from both inside and outside the company’, it said.
Michael Kirkwood, chairman of Circle Holdings, said: ‘Ali has been a pioneer developing a business model which empowers doctors, nurses and healthcare professionals to redefine UK healthcare delivery for the benefit of their patients.
‘Following on from the successful establishment of its business model which delivers patient value in both private and NHS healthcare settings, Ali and the Board have agreed that now is the appropriate time for him to assume a Non-Executive role.’
Parsa said: “I wish to step down from my executive leadership role so that I have the time I need for other projects that now require some of my focus… The Company is exceptionally well positioned strategically and I expect it to be very successful in the future.”
