The chief executive of the RCGP is to step down after being selected for ordination as a minister in the Church of England, the college has announced.
Hilary de Lyon, who joined as the RCGP's chief executive in November 2002, has seen membership at the college more than double during her time in charge, from 19,000 to almost 40,000, while the college's income has also increased, from £12m to over £30m.
RCGP chair Professor Steve Field said: 'Hilary has worked closely with Colin Hunter, our honorary treasurer, in the search for our new headquarters, and I know she is delighted to be able to leave the college having successfully acquired our excellent premises in Euston, though she would have liked to see the project through to its conclusion.
'Her leadership and vision, warmth and enthusiasm, among her many talents, have been invaluable, and we shall miss her greatly.'
