Dr Charlotte Jones comes in at number 25 in the 2013 Pulse Power 50. She has risen nine places from last year’s list.
As the recently elected GPC Wales chair and a UK negotiator, Dr Charlotte Jones has quite a lot on her plate.
Contract negotiations for the devolved nations are going their separate ways this year, so she will have to fight independently for a better deal for Welsh GPs.
But her GP colleagues say it is ‘fantastic’ that she has been elected to the role, and Dr Jones herself remains optimistic. ‘Swansea has been described as the graveyard of ambition. Well, it is not for me,’ she says.
She was elected unopposed for the job as Welsh GPC chair when Dr David Bailey stepped down from the role this summer and the appointment was regarded very much as a no-brainer to Welsh colleagues.
This year Dr Jones says she is hoping to be able to promote Wales as an attractive destination to become a GP.
