GPs are invited to a free two-day virtual event next month featuring sessions across a variety of clinical topics, including how to best support patients with ADHD.

The Pulse 365 event, on 4-5 February, is designed to support GPs in confident decision-marking as well as highlighting strategies for earlier diagnosis and management. Tickets can be found here.

Taking place on the second day, ‘GP essentials for adult ADHD: assess, refer, support’ will be presented by Dr Tabish Shah, GP and advanced ADHD medical practitioner.

This comes as a recent report warned that the NHS has become ‘heavily dependent’ on private ADHD providers, consequently pushing ICBs massively over budget with little oversight.

At the end of last year, the Government also launched a review into the rising diagnoses of ADHD, autism and other mental health conditions.

Dr Shah’s session will look at:

  • Recognition and symptoms of ADHD in adults
  • Assessment in primary care, practical screening and referral decisions based on real-world indicators
  • Ongoing management post-diagnosis, including medication monitoring and lifestyle strategies

Other sessions across the two days include: how to identify and treat high-risk COVID-19 patients; using AI in obesity management; red flags and practical management in CKD – and more. The full agenda can be found here.

The virtual event is open to all UK GMC-registered GPs and is free to attend.
