NHS England launches ready reckoner allowing GP practices to predict 2015/16 income

NHS England has released an updated ‘ready reckoner’ to help GP practices identify how the 2015/16 contract changes will impact practice funding.

The spreadsheet allows practices to forecast their earnings based on 2014/15 achievements on QOF and enhanced services. It also allows them to calculate how their global sum will change as a result of redistribution of MPIG payments.

NHS England said the tool, which was also available last year, was indicative only and did not constitute financial advice.

In a bulletin to GP practices, NHS England said: ‘This tool takes account of the changes to practice funding that will be implemented as part of the GP contact agreement for 2015-2016.’

‘The ready reckoner is indicative only and does not constitute financial advice to practices. Nor does it reflect any national modelling for assessing practice-level impacts of contract changes.’

The GPC last year urged practices to use the tool to calculate whether they were entitled to support on the basis of MPIG losses.
