Man charged after ‘serious sexual assault’ against GP practice staff member

A man has been charged by police after an alleged serious sexual assault against a staff member at a GP practice in Scotland.

Police Scotland received a report of a ‘serious sexual assault’ at a GP practice in Kinghorn, Fife, on 26 May.

A 44-year-old man has now been arrested and charged in connection with the incident and is due to appear at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court ‘at a later date’, the force said.

NHS Fife health board confirmed to Pulse it was ‘made aware’ of an alleged sexual assault ‘against a member of staff employed by a local medical practice’.

A spokesperson said: ‘The health board is unable to comment further at this stage as the matter is subject to an ongoing investigation by Police Scotland.’

A Police Scotland spokesperson told Pulse: ‘Around 2.10pm on Monday, 26 May, 2025, we received a report of a serious sexual assault at a premises in Kinghorn.

‘A 44-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection and due to appear at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court at a later date.’

Pulse has reported extensively on the issue of abuse and violence against GPs and practice staff.

In England, the NHS launched a ‘sexual safety charter’ aimed at eradicating sexual harassment and inappropriate behaviour by offering staff clear reporting mechanisms, training and support.
