Nurses, midwives and ambulance sraff are staging a four-hour strike over pay this mornning, with the BBC reporting on the dispute. The Department of Health reiterated that it cannot afford a pay rise higher than the 1% announced.
Is the Government covering up the scale of the ongoing A&E ‘winter crisis’? the Daily Mail asks this morning. According to the paper, information due to be released over a week ago on cancelled operations and seasonal illness pressure are still under wraps.
A GP who is off to fight ebola in Sierra Leone gets a write-up in the Independent. Dr Charles Heatley, a GP in Sheffield, is one of around 1,000 NHS staff to be deployed to West Africa to try to halt the crisis.
