Obituary: Pulse consultant medical editor and GP Dr Pat Kerrigan

Dr Patrick (‘Pat’) Kerrigan has died aged 74.

Throughout the 1980s and early 1990s Pat served as Pulse’s Consultant Medical Editor. He had an unerring eye for selecting clinical content of direct relevance to GPs. His wise editorial decisions were informed by his parallel work as a full time GP at Laindon Health Centre – a busy six-partner practice in Basildon, Essex. Pat, who had originally trained in medicine at Sheffield, was also a course organiser and ran asthma workshops nationally. He had a ready smile, a dry wit, and was splendid company.

He fought a long battle with Parkinson’s/LBD and finally succumbed to pneumonia on 25 April. His funeral will be held at Yeovil Crematorium on Wednesday 18 May at 11:20am. His family ask for no flowers but donations to Parkinson’s UK in memory of Dr Patrick Joseph Charles Kerrigan.
