An argument for 15 minute consultations

Tom Nolan, a GP ST4 at King’s College Hospital VTS, London and Dr Sarah Bruml, a GP at Brockwell Park Surgery, London, have produced a poster that explains the argument for 15 minute consultations in general practice.

They write: ‘We have shown that offering 15 minute routine appointments is not assoicated with an increase in the time that GPs spend consulting with each patient per year at our practice compared with the national average. In addition, we believe that offering 15 minute appointments contribute to our practice’s excellent reputation as indicated by our scoring well above the national average on accessibility indicators and overall experience in the National Patient Survey.’
