Book review: ‘The Self Illusion: Why there is no ‘you’ inside your head’ by Bruce Hood

I began this book slightly intimidated at the thought of myself as a watered down, Surrey Mum version of Keano Reeves in The Matrix!  Slowly, my personal view of myself disintegrated into a mere bunch of (albeit frantically firing!) neurons, and I began to question the way I saw the world.

Hood has a way of writing that makes this an exciting adventure, rather than a scary journey.  I emerged at the end still feeling 'human', but aware my perception of both myself and the world had changed forever.  A great read.
