15 – Dr Paul Zollinger-Read

Dr Paul Zollinger-Read is one of the new breed of commissioning enthusiasts who have become increasingly influential since the coalition Government gained power.

New entry

Formerly the chief executive of not one but two PCTs – at the same time – he is now director of GP commissioning at NHS East of England.

He also has a national role as lead for the DH on pathfinder learning development, and as such is one of those credited with ensuring nearly all the country is now covered by GP consortia, ahead of schedule.

Dr Zollinger-Read is a GP in Braintree, Essex, and also writes a popular Pulse blog Notes from the Dark Side.
