18 – Professor Alan Maynard

Professor Alan Maynard is professor of health economics at the well-respected and influential centre for health economics at the University of York.

His research interests include the use of financial incentives and performance management of doctors, and he has written often controversial papers on the impact of the QOF on GP behaviour.

He is also an outspoken commentator on the regulation of the pharmaceutical industry, and has written on both previous and the current set of healthcare reforms.
