great feeling doing my last duty doc slot seeing the 'burning up' kids and the generally hopeless - I am retiring next week and leaving this mess behind. When I started it was a matter of professional pride that we kept upto date. We now have 'competency based fundamentalism' and before long will have disappeared down the alley nurses have gone being unable to do basics without being on a course and getting a certificate. Who allowed this to happen to us?
PS After 31 years as a GP I still have no idea what a health visitor does. Huw Williams
