Keogh put forward for NHS Commissioning Board post

By Craig Kenny | 12 Dec 2011

Professor Sir Bruce Keogh has been designated medical director of the NHS Commissioning Board.

The appointment is subject to approval by the NHS Commissioning Board next year once it is fully established, and to the passage of the Health and Social Care Bill. Professor Keogh is to divide his time between this role and his present position as medical director of the NHS.

The board's chairman Professor Malcolm Grant said: ‘Sir Bruce has an outstanding reputation and an excellent track record in leading improvements in quality and outcomes.

'He is the ideal person to lead us in building a clinically led system that is focused on outcomes.'
