Loneliness in older people during the pandemic

The Covid-19 pandemic is likely exacerbating loneliness by drastically reducing routine and intimate interactions

In older adults, loneliness and cognitive decline are closely related

Call in Time:

  • Is a free national telephone service for people age 60 and over
  • A volunteer befriender will phone an older person at an agreed time for a chat
  • The older person is matched with a befriender who has similar interests, who will provide friendly conversation and companionship on a regular basis over a long period of time.
