Expert advisers revealed for new GP and pharmacy conference

Respected healthcare leaders, innovators and frontline clinicians will gather at a new event that aims to bring general practice and community pharmacy together for collaboration.

The programme advisory committee for Pulse publisher Cogora’s conference has been revealed, including deputy chair of GPC England Dr Julius Parker; GP and deputy clinical director of Southwest London ICS Dr Nick Merrifield; CMO of Somerset ICB Dr Bernie Marden and more.

The committee of the event, taking place 21-22 June 2026 at the Birmingham National Conference Centre (NCC), will design and guide an agenda that focuses on how links between community pharmacy and general practice can be strengthened amid 10-year health plan ambitions.

GPs can register for free here.

Worth 10 CPD points, the Community Pharmacy and General Practice Conference – launched in partnership with the National Pharmacy Association (NPA) – will feature over 100 speakers, two high-level keynote speakers, eight conference streams, more than 80 sessions and over 70 exhibitors.

Committee members have been drawn from organisations central to primary care transformation, including the BMA, NPA, Community Pharmacy England, the Primary Care Pharmacy Association, the Royal Pharmaceutical Society, the PMA, The Queen’s Institute of Community Nursing, Local Pharmaceutical and Medical Committees, ICBs and PCNs.

The expert panel’s collective experience aims to bring practical insight into how primary care sectors can work together as a seamless neighbourhood health service.

As part of the 10-year plan, the Government announced its intention to move the ‘majority of outpatient care‘ away from hospitals and into the community by 2035. This will involve creating neighbourhood ‘health centres to bring ‘historically hospital-based services into the community’ – including diagnostics, post-operative care and rehab – under one roof.

Other committee members for the Community Pharmacy and General Practice Conference include:

  • Dr Wasim Baqir, head of pharmacy integration, primary care, vaccinations and screening at NHSE;
  • Sukhi Basra, vice chair of the NPA
  • Amandeep Doll, director for England at the Royal Pharmaceutical Society
  • Dr Graham Stretch, president of the Primary Care Pharmacy Association
