EMIS Web receives full rollout approval for Summary Care Record

An IT system used by more than 1,000 practices across the country has been given the green light for Summary Care Record functionality.

EMIS Web received full rollout approval for SCR functionality from NHS Connecting for Health on Wednesday October 3, following successful testing at pilot practices in the North-east of England in September.

The system allows different healthcare professionals to view and contribute to a patient’s complete healthcare record at the point of care.

SCRs are held centrally, containing information about patient medication, allergies and adverse reactions to medicines.

News of the SCR roll-out came just a few days after the company announced that more than 1,000 practices had signed up to use EMIS Web – with up to 200 coming on board every month.

Shaun O’Hanlon, clinical and development director at EMIS, said: ‘This is another great success for EMIS Web, which already offers users rich functionality.

‘We are delighted to have obtained full roll-out approval following a very successful first of type period of testing.’
