Dr Kambiz Boomla is chair of Tower Hamlets LMC, in the east London area where he practices, and is a politically active left-winger.
He has been vocal in warning against the dangers of private-sector involvement in the NHS, and took to the streets to the streets to protest against the PCT's decision to award a contract for an APMS practice to Atos, a private company, ahead of local GP tenders.
He has also spoken up against the transfer of community services away from primary care.
