Parents of cancer sick boy released, calls for NHS-housed ‘retirement complexes’ and emailing GPs ‘dangerous’

The parents of cancer sick boy Ashya King have been released from prison in Spain after UK police authorities dropped an extradition order, several front pages report today.

The Daily Mail reports that the release comes following a sustained campaign for the release of the duo who removed their boy from an English hospital against doctors’ advice.

Liberal Democrat MP and former care minister Paul Burstow has called for the UK’s elderly should be homed on NHS land, the BBC reports.

Mr Burstow wants the land to be used to build both care homes and adapted flats in retirement complexes.

Emailing your GP can ‘damage your health’, reports The Telegraph.

Dr Emma Richards, academic GP registrar and honorary clinical research fellow at Imperial College London, warned that the Department of Health’s plans for e-mail and Skype consultations could see doctors miss ‘emotional and clinical clues’ from patients as well as isolate elderly and poor patients without internet access.
