Dr Roger Neighbour is best known as the author of the seminal textbook on patient-consultation skills The Inner Consultation, published in 1987 and hailed by colleagues such as RCGP chair Professor David Haslam as ‘one of the very few contemporary medical classics’.

Dr Roger Neighbour is best known as the author of the seminal textbook on patient-consultation skills The Inner Consultation, published in 1987 and hailed by colleagues such as RCGP chair Professor David Haslam as ‘one of the very few contemporary medical classics'.

The Herefordshire GP has had a distinguished career in medical education culminating in 2003 with his election as president of the RCGP.

He is also the author of other works such as The Inner Apprentice and I'm Too Hot Now, and continues to teach courses at the college.
