I think that involvement from the grass roots will improve once the changes are underpinned by statute. There are a lot of practices that are not engaged through choice and not because there CCG's are being dictatorial. In
my area we have pleaded with partners and sessionals to come forward to offer their skills but they have not. It is easy to criticise those colleagues who have stepped forward to try and embed and take clinical ownership of commissioning and my goodness what a thankless task it is at present. Practices need to understand that this is not an earning opportunity and we will not be paid for much of the work which will need to be done. Wake up!

Our CCG has opted for "one Practice one vote" on CCG issues without asking local GPs' opinions on this which means there will not be much engagement with sessional GPs, particularly those working as locums who are not attached to one Practice.
